Biking Routes in Napa Valley

Four wineries are probably the most one can visit in a day on a bike. Most of the streets and highways have Bike Lanes. Please visit the Maps section of the Chamber Store to view available maps.

The Upper Valley
Begin at Yountville or farther North. It is 15 miles from Yountville to Calistoga. Most of the major wineries are along Highway 29. You can stop at most of them to take a tour and rest. Running parallel to Highway 29 is Silverado Trail. The wineries along this route are smaller and usually only open for tasting and/or sales. Silverado Trail is wider than Highway 29, but is also steeper in many locations. There are crossroads that connect Highway 29 to Silverado Trail. There are restaurants and stores in the towns along the way, and each town has a city park where you can stop and picnic. The wineries open around 10:00 am. Ride carefully and have a good time!

Beginning in Napa
Take Solano Avenue from Redwood Road to the Yountville Crossroads to get to Silverado Trail. Take the trail north to Zinfandel Lane (just North of Rutherford). Take Zinfandel to Highway 29. The highway can then be followed North to Calistoga. This sis the safest route and offers shoulders all the way North. The Calistoga trip is about a 60 mile ride round trip and is recommended for experienced riders. A long good ride for a novice would be to start in St. Helena and back for a good 45 miles (Starting at Yountville takes about 15 miles off the trip).
