HOTEL EXECUTIVES RECOGNIZE NAPA AS HOME TO ONE OF INDUSTRY’S BRIGHTEST STARS

Napa, CA – May 18, 2017 — The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) today announced that John Evans, General Manager of the Silverado Resort and Spa, a Wyndham Hotel Group property, in Napa, California, has been selected as Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a large property.

A quality General Manager is critical to the success of any hotel. This award goes to the person whose management and leadership efforts are reflected throughout every aspect of the hotel – from the state of the physical property, to the success of the staff, the satisfaction of the guests and the impact on the broader community.

Evans was one of just six employees across the country to be recognized as one of this year’s Stars of the Industry – an annual awards program that celebrates the nation’s top employees and properties for their outstanding accomplishments, service, and leadership in the hospitality and lodging industry.

Jenna Bush Hager, contributing correspondent on NBC's TODAY Show and an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine, hosted the ceremony in Washington, DC and presented Evans with his award, sharing insights from fellow associates, about his unwavering commitment to his staff, guests and community.

“As General Manager at the Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, California, John has successfully built a culture of excellence, passion, work ethic, and service,” she told the audience. “This characterization doesn’t just apply to his employees, but the broader Napa community, as well. Thanks in large part to John’s foresight and vision, the resort truly serves as an economic lifeline and an impressionable focal point to both Napa visitors and locals alike.”

This year’s Stars of the Industry were chosen from some 500 incredible nominations from hotels of every size and in every sector across the country. Each winner showed superior dedication, promise and passion for service in specific categories, ranging from emerging leader, to advancing women in the workplace, to excellence in innovation and general management.

“When hospitality is your business, your people are everything,” said Katherine Lugar, president and CEO of AHLA. “Since joining AHLA four years ago, I have consistently been amazed at the level of talent, professionalism, empathy and compassion that runs through the people who make up this industry. Being able to hear the stories and celebrate the accomplishments of some our best and brightest is an honor and an inspiration to all of us at AHLA.”
