BB Committee Meeting Notes
2/2/10

Present: Julia Smith, Maureen Eckert, Chal Daniels, Charlie Monahan, Caryl Chakerian

Sherry is absent at a training session, Chal will chair the meeting for today.

February’s session is “Hey You! Business Communications That Get Attention.” Sherry is the appointed liaison, will emcee the workshop and introduce the speaker (Randy Martinsen).

March’s session is well in hand with Julia as liaison and speaker Stu Carty confirmed from Constant Contact. Publicity material is already created. Charlie will send out both pdf and word doc versions of the fliers to committee members for viral marketing. Julia will emcee the meeting.

April’s session is Weaving Your Web 2.0. for which speakers need to be confirmed. Charlie is the liaison and will talk to Diamond Point.

Attracting new committee members was discussed and brainstormed. We reviewed “ask” assignments:

Chal: (Craig Smith, Nancy Nunley, Brian Kelley, Nancy Stetler and Jeff Gerlomes) did not make a lot of headway this month, will move it up on his to-do list

Julia: (Jill Nelson and Max Foxworthy)has reached oout to Jill Nelson and has declined to ask Max Foxworthy

Kent: (Lori Wear and St. Regis contact) was absent from the meeting

Charlie: (Don Shindle) will follow up

Maureen: Frye’s (Tilly) Frye’s is thinking about it and reviewing the financial commitment of having an employee attend. Maureen also suggested Don Kruger of  Minute Man Press as a possible.

Sherry forwarded a Statement of Benefits for our review. (See attached). This is the talking points document for recruiting new members. It was approved with the added suggestion of including a statement about the minimal time commitment expectations. Chal will forward it to Sherry for editing.

It was suggested to print the Statement on introduction cards for use in recruiting members. Katherine Zimmer will produce them, so once the Statement is final please forward it to her.

General discussion ensued about marketing Committee efforts and projects.

It was decided to post speaker presentations as they are available on the Chamber BB Committee webpage AFTER the WUYBW session. It can be announced during the workshop as a resource. The Liaison should forward the electronic file to Katherine Zimmer prior to the workshop date.

Chal suggested incorporating a 10 minute Chamber & BB presentation into the SBDC “Business Start Up” session, which is held in Napa. Charlie was open to this idea.

Julia announced a new consortium, BART (Business Advancement and Retention Team), a panel of business advisors which would make themselves available at resource sharing events. This is in the design phase and could include BB Committee as a team member.

The next BB meeting is Tuesday, March 2, 9:00 am.
