BB Committee Meeting Notes
7/6/10
Present: Sherry McKillop, Maureen Eckert, Chal Daniels, Kent Kuhlman, Charlie Monahan, Caryl Chakerian
New member Walt Spicer has declined becoming a committee member.
Charlie announced that SBDC will be moving from 1st Street to the College by January 1st in a cost savings move.
Speakers are set for the July event, “Following the Leader – Succession Planning”. Chal is the speaker liaison. Charlie presented the word doc and the pdf flyer for the event and mentioned that all committee members need to market this session to assure adequate turnout. Chal mentioned that he has already sent it out to about 100 businesses.
There will be no session or committee meeting in August.
September’s liaison is Chal, the subject is time management wit a title suggested of “Get ‘er Done!”. Suggested speakers are Sandy Stetler on time management, Sherry McKillop on leveraging your unique skills, China Rose Reid of Pharmaca on the nutritional role and Jeff and/or Tiffany Larsen from Adventure Boot Camp on the physical aspect. Chal will get the details to Charlie by the end of July for the flyer.
Charlie reiterated the need for liaison’s to route flyer information to him, not Katherine Zimmer (KZ). Charlie gets the information into the appropriate format for KZ.
October’s session is “Effective Networking”, the liaison is Maureen. Maureen suggested asking attendees to bring their networking success stories to share and also suggested Lisa Batto speak on all the networking options available through the Chamber. Charlie suggested a segment on “how to get the most out of a trade show booth or Expo” with the ABC’s of networking (ie: don’t sit and read a book in your booth!).
Kent suggested a topic for a future session on how to negotiate, or re-negotiate a lease. He also suggested a larger format workshop including other Chamber committees. Discussion ensued on this topic. Sherry explained the format for the new All Member Briefing sessions which function as an introduction to all Chamber activities.
Lease negotiation (Sustaining through hard times) was agreed as the basis for the November session.
The Call for Speakers flyer was passed around. It will be going out via KZ and results should be available for analysis at the September Business Builders Annual Planning meeting. This will be held on September 7th, the normal meeting day/time, but plan on spending 2 hours as we will be mapping out session topics for the coming year.
The next BB meeting is Tuesday, September 7, 9:00 am.
