BB Committee Meeting Notes
12/6/11
Present: Sandi Weimer, Maureen Eckert, Geraldo Martin, Randy Martinsen, Mary Cervantes, Chris Templeton, Caryl Chakerian
General Announcements:
Caryl announced she will be leaving the Chamber at the end of the year. Chris offered to take the meeting notes going forward.
The January/February programs were discussed. The topics will be flip flopped, but no other schedule changes should happen until June because the first six months have already been published in the College schedule. Sandi will confirm the changes with Sherry and Chal.
Discussion ensued about the suggested speakers for the coming sessions. Randy suggested a single presenter would be more productive than a panel for the January “7 essentials” session. It was decided that Randy would discuss Chamber membership with Donna Pullen if she is to present and the SBDC will open and close the session. Randy is available to be a backup presenter if the membership issue is not resolved.
Randy insisted that Chamber membership be a non-negotiable for WUYBW presenters.
We will need suggestions of speakers for the February Program on Leadership – Creating & Communicating the Leadership Vision. Sandi is the liaison for this program. Her goal is to wrap up all the details by next week to give 2 months to promote the February 15th program and really kick 2012 in to high gear. Randy suggested Mayor Techel, or someone from LNV. He will assist Sandi in sourcing a speaker if Sherry is unavailable in February.
Chris emphasized the value of the session host reiterating Chamber and SBDC services and benefits in line with the particular topic being presented.
The committee mission was discussed in reviewing the process used to create the 2012 schedule with a reminder that it was not about simply fitting in willing presenters, but sourcing the most dynamic speaker available.
The March session was discussed. Randy suggested a single speaker and asked to be taken off the billing. Albert DeSilver will be the main presenter with either an Ambassador or Cathy talking up membership value.
Randy suggested that the April topic “Social Media Overview” needs to be more specific, and that the session notes should be shared with Marcia as soon as possible so she can best structure the May session as they are related topics.
Any edits to the July – December topics must be in to the College by May.
The next BB meeting is Tuesday, January 3, 2012, 9:00 am.
