After a career focused on large-scale art installations, Huether has begun exploring smaller-scale work that utilizes the seductive properties of richly saturated color, a wide array of light sources, luscious textures, found materials and quirky imagery. Almost all combine elements from his background in glass with new materials ? thick rods of glass laced with prismatic dichroic glass, sheets of patinated metal cut into stencil-like patterns from which light pours through or slender, intertwined branches obscured by a frosted window. Gordon Huether Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday | 11AM - 8PM and Sunday | 11AM - 5PM.
