Randy Martinsen | Chairman of the Board

RANDY MARTINSEN, Chairman, is President & CEO of Accelerated Marketing Group, a Y2Marketing Agency, working to assist companies with their strategic and tactical marketing projects including contact management systems, web auto responders, social marketing and email marketing automation. He also serves on the Advisory Committee of the Redwood Credit Union, and has served on other boards throughout his career.
     “2010 brings with it many changes to the Napa Chamber. As the Chair, I will be working with our new CEO to maintain the objectives outlined in our 5-year Vision; and to work with other community leaders and elected officials to sustain business health in the Napa Valley by representing our membership on key local issues that include transportation, housing, jobs and education.”

 


Ryan Gregory | Chair Elect

RYAN GREGORY, Chair-Elect, is Vice President of Riechers Spence and Associates. He is Past-President of Leadership Napa Valley, Past-President and member of the Napa Engineers Society, President of Kiwanis Club of Napa and Brother Can You Spare a Dime, a Board Member of Community Action Napa Valley and member of the Downtown Specific Plan Steering Committee. A native of Napa, Gregory has two children.
     “I would like to see a more diverse cross-section of businesses involved in the Board and their decisions. I think the general public needs to be more informed of the hard work that the Chamber does for local business and the community at large.” 

 


Debra Dommen | Vice-Chair Advocacy

DEBRA DOMMEN Vice Chair Community Resources Council, has been in the wine industry for over 15 years, joining Winegrowers of Napa County as their Executive Director in July 2002. She has also served on the staff of former Assemblymember Pat Wiggins as Senior Consultant to the Assembly Select Committee on California Wine. Debra currently sits on the Board of Napa Valley Hospice and Adult Day Services and is a Leadership Napa Valley Class 17 graduate. She has also held the position of Executive Director for the California Cabernet Society.
    “My goal for the Napa Chamber of Commerce in the next year is to continue it’s stellar advocacy for the business community and support the continued evolution of Napa as it in turn supports the wine industry in Napa County.”

 


Catherine Poliak | Vice Chair Membership Services

CATHY POLIAK, is an experienced human resources executive, coach and trainer for CBPoliak HR Solutions, providing full-service Human Resources consulting to small and midsize businesses. Cathy is passionate about helping business leaders successfully navigate HR challenges and develop winning organizations, following the idea: People + Strategies = Solutions.
     “I’m looking forward to 2010 being a year of economic recovery, and to working with the membership committee of the Chamber to provide our local businesses with valuable resources to support their growth and success.”

 


Kent Kuhlmann | Vice Chair Resources

KENT KUHLMANN is the owner of Retirement Capital Strategies, (RCS) an independent wealth management firm. Kent manages the financial affairs of a select group of families. Kent has served on numerous Boards in the past and is a graduate of Leadership Napa Valley, Class 21.     
     “I hope to assist the board with my talents and provide the perspective of someone who has visited Napa for many years and now makes his home here. I love this place and I am committed to preserving what makes Napa so special along with meeting the needs for its future.”  

 


Cherie Knox | Treasurer

CHERIE KNOX, Treasurer, is the Branch Manager for Redwood Credit Union in Napa. She has 27 years experience serving the credit union industry; she has served on the North Bay Chapter of the California Credit Union League and is a graduate of Leadership Napa Valley.
     “My goal for this year is to continue to build and foster relationships between local businesses and local consumers and to educate business owners about the very real benefits of belonging to our Chamber. In my role as the Treasurer for the Chamber, I am committed to the Chamber’s financial success, continued sustainability and our fiduciary responsibility to our Membership.”

 


Mike Silvas | Immediate Past Chair

MIKE SILVAS, Immediate Past Chair, is Owner of Wine Country Fine Properties. He is also Chairman of the calREDD and the California Association of Realtors state wide MLS initiative .
     “The Chamber is an important resource for the entire Napa community. It is also where the business community comes together to be heard and to keep up with what is happening.  From my perspective, it is vitally important to my business to be involved and stay involved.”

Barry Martin 

BARRY MARTIN is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the City of Napa and the Public Information Officer for the Napa River Flood Project. He is a member of the Infrastructure Task Force. Barry is co-founder of Lucky Penny Productions, a graduate of Leadership Napa Valley Class 19 and a member of the LNV Board, President-Elect of Kiwanis of Napa, and a member of the California Association of Public Information Officials.
     “My Chamber goal for 2010 is to help keep our eyes on the prize and spirits high as we look forward to great times ahead in the wonderful Napa Valley.”

 


Bill Lockhart 

BILL LOCKHART is a Limited Partner of Edward Jones Investments, counseling Valley families in their financial goals and dreams. Bill’s background is in international telecommunications finance and marketing. He is a longtime contributor to the Chamber Board and radio shows, Sunrise Rotary, and business education in Napa schools.
     “The year ahead challenges us to drive Napa’s business community “renaissance,” advocating a strong business climate, leading the search for growth opportunities, and helping shape the quality of life we all desire. I’m hoping for a great year!”


 


Brenda Speth 

BRENDA SPETH is the publisher at Napa Valley Publishing Company, the premier provider of news and information in the Napa Valley. She oversees the daily Napa Valley Register and napavalleyregister.com; three community weekly newspapers, The Weekly Calistogan, The St Helena Star and The American Canyon Eagle; plus a variety of specialty websites and niche publications. A journalism graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ms. Speth has worked in the newspaper industry for 25 years. 
    "Like so many other industries and businesses in the Napa Valley, the news business is going through an exciting transformation. I'm proud to be a part of a Chamber board that is offering so many unique services and support to help our local business community through this transformation. I look forward to a continuing vibrant, sustainable future for all of our members."

 


Cathy D'Angelo Holmes 

CATHY D’ANGELO HOLMES is a Commercial Realtor for Coldwell Banker Commercial. Cathy’s business expertise combines her years of experience in the high tech corporate arena and with her knowledge of the local real estate market. She is a Napa native, graduate of Napa High School and graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton where she received a degree in Business Administration. Cathy’s community involvement includes Vice President, Board of Directors of (NEWS) Napa Emergency Women's Services. Appointee to the Napa Downtown Specific Plan. Cathy resides in Napa with her husband David and their daughter Emma.
     “2010 will provide us challenges and opportunities in business here in Napa and around the nation. If I can be of assistance please call upon me as your chamber board of director member.”

 


Clay Gregory 

CLAY GREGORY is currently the President and CEO of The Napa Valley Destination Council, whose mission is to promote, protect and enhance The Napa Valley’s position as North America’s legendary wine, food and wellness capital. Clay has more than 25 years of marketing and management experience in multiple industries, building consensus and developing outstanding programs with a wide variety of partners across many fields.
     “I look forward to 2010 as a year where the Chamber and the Destination Council form a close and effective relationship which benefits Napa’s business community, our visitor serving industries, our guests and our residents as well.”

 


Dennis Pedisich 

DENNIS PEDISICH is president and CEO of Napa Community Bank, and has been a Napa resident since 1986. He attended Santa Clara University where he received a BA degree in History and a MBA degree in Agribusiness. Dennis began his career in banking in 1977. He currently serves on the boards of the Napa Valley College Foundation, just completing two years as the Board president, Justin-Siena High School’s Foundation and Children’s Health Initiative.
     “Due to the economy, businesses are in more need of the Chamber’s support than ever before. New taxes and fees continue to threaten the viability of Napa’s businesses, many which already are struggling to keep their doors open. My goal is for the Chamber to make decisions that will contribute to the economic vitality of Napa’s businesses.”

 


Don Shindle 

DON SHINDLE is General Manager of The Westin Verasa, Napa. Shindle has over thirty years of hospitality expertise, most recently overseeing the pre opening and operations of four new Intrawest Hospitality Management hotels under the Westin brand. Born in Ontario, Canada, Don is a former member of Rotary Club International, Kootenay Rockies Tourism, Tourism Whistler and The Blue Mountain Village Association as well as a former auxiliary member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police since 1993. Don currently sits on the advisory board of the hospitality program of the Napa Valley Community College.
     “As a Napa Chamber board member it is certainly my goal to provide support to a very diverse membership while dealing with a wide variety of community and economic issues.”

 


E. Dean Bowen, Jr. 

DEAN BOWEN is the owner Net-Flow Corporation providing a range of standard and customized Web based business building solutions. Dean graduated from Brigham Young University and is a Leadership Napa Valley Class 12 graduate, is President of RatedQ (an Organization of Entrepreneurs) and an Eagle Scout. Dean and his wife Rhonda Bowen are both native Napans and have three children.
     “I am honored to be associated with such business and community stalwarts and look forward to the next year. My goal for serving on the board is to figure out what “W” (wealth, wisdom or worker) I bring to the board and utilize that characteristic to continue creating a strong local economy.”

 


Jaime Peñaherrera 

JAIME PENAHERRERA is Director Marketing, Communications & Public Relations at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Prior to coming to the Queen he worked for major medical device companies, including Medtronic, Boston Scientific and others, in a variety of strategic and tactical marketing and planning roles. He has also launched two successful import companies specializing in Latino artworks and an eco-friendly, palm-based alternative to elephant ivory. He holds an MBA in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MA in government from Harvard University. Peñaherrera immigrated to the United States at the age of 22 and has visited, lived or worked in more than 40 countries.
     “During my early years in Ecuador and later experiences in other nations around the world, I have had ample opportunity to learn how ‘the other half’ lives. This has helped me develop a very strong desire to contribute. My long involvement in the healthcare industry and my current role with the chamber continue to offer wonderful opportunities to have a positive impact on my community.”

 


Jay Williamson 

JAY WILLIAMSON is owner of Williamson and Company. Born in Napa, and returning in 1994, Jay took the helm of the local men’s apparel emporium in 1995. His father had started the store with a partner in 1975, and Jay is proud to continue the tradition of a family-owned business in downtown Napa. Jay is looking forward to sitting on the Board of Directors and contributing to building an ever-stronger market place for Napa’s business owners.
     “I would like to use my experience to help enhance our downtown retail environment.”

 


John Cardinale 

JOHN CARDINALE is a new board member and had been a local State Farm Insurance Agent for 16 years, helping individuals protect their assets and recover from the unexpected. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Napa Noon Rotary Club, and has served on other boards throughout his career.
     “I am looking forward, as a local business person, to bring what I know in helping the Chamber promote and enhance local business throughout the Valley”

 


John Glaser 

JOHN GLASER is Superintendent of the Napa Valley Unified School District.
       “The Napa Chamber is uniquely situated to provide dynamic leadership in this valley to ensure that we are maintaining a vibrant local economy in the face of unprecedented regional and national challenges. As we look to the long term economic future of the Napa Valley, I want the chamber to continue to partner with the school district to make certain that our schools are producing graduates who have the diverse skills that they need to be outstanding employees, entrepreneurs, and leaders who continue to promote the economic vitality and the unique quality of life that makes this community so exceptional.”

 


Julian Weidler 

JULIAN WEIDLER, Honorary Directory, Retired, is past President Emeritus of the Napa Valley Economic Developement Coporation. Julian graduated from UC Berkeley in 1934. He was President and Chairman of the Board of Rough Rider, Inc. from 1955 to 1976. He has served as Chairman of Napa Chamber of Commerce, President of Napa 20/30 Club, Napa Valley B’nai B’rith, Napa Kiwanis Club, Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation and the Napa Valley College Foundation.  Julian is a member of the Commonwealth Club of California, Napa Valley Country Club, the Napa Elks Lodge, SCORE and Parent Teachers Association.

 


Kara Long 

KARA LONG is the President and co-owner of Tugboat, Inc., a promotional merchandise and apparel company headquartered at the Gateway Corporate Park in Napa. Kara graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she met her husband, Napa native, Gavin Long. Tugboat actively supports the Boys & Girls Club of Napa, Justin-Siena Athletics, COPE and the Queen of the Valley Foundation.
     “Small business remains one of the most under-represented groups in this country. My goals for 2010 are to support and further the Chamber’s leadership role in advocating for small business, providing resources and knowledge to the business community, and encouraging support for a strong local economy.” 

 


Ken Frank 

KEN FRANK is best known as Chef of La Toque Restaurant in The Westin Verasa Napa. In addition, his company owns and operates the entire Food and Beverage department at the Hotel including BANK Café and Bar, the Catering and Banquet spaces and In Room Dining. A self-taught chef, he has been cooking full time since he was in High School and opened the original La Toque on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles in 1979. In 1998 He moved La Toque to the Napa Valley because it was where he wanted to live.
     “A vibrant culinary scene is part of what makes Napa Valley so special. My goal in working with the Chamber is to help provide input from my industry’s perspective as it relates to the bigger picture; making Napa a great place to visit, live and do business.”

 


Linda Champagne 

LINDA CHAMPAGNE is Hospitality Director of Artesa Winery located in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Since 1999 she has overseen all aspects of Direct to Consumer sales at Artesa including the Visitors Center and Wine Club. Raised in the Napa Valley, Linda has been managing winery tasting rooms and visitors centers for over twenty years. Linda is active in fundraising for local organizations such as the Dry-Creek Lokoya Fire Department serving as the judging coordinator for the Home Winemaker’s Classic and hosting the Carneros Run 5 & 10k to benefit the Carneros Fire Station. She lives in Old Town Napa with her husband Steve.
     “I am very excited to serve my first year on the Chamber Board. I look forward to working with local community leaders and my fellow board members to continue to sustain and improve Napa’s role as a renowned agricultural region and hospitality center.”

 


Pamela Gleeson 

PAMELA GLEESON is the Chief Financial Officer of Santen Incorporated, an ophthalmic pharmaceutical company located in the Gateway Business Park. She joined Santen in 1997 and has held financial positions in various business sectors for over 20 years. She is a graduate of Leadership Napa Valley Class 19, serves on the LNV Board and is president of Ophthalmic Women Leaders, a nationwide industry networking organization. Pamela is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and resides in Napa with her husband Patrick and their sons Cole and Liam.
     “I am looking forward to my first term on the Chamber Board. These are exciting times for the development of Napa County commerce and I look forward to working with the Board to address key issues affecting business growth and sustainability.”

 


Richard Rybicki 

RICHARD RYBICKI is Principal Counsel with Rybicki & Associates / P.C., a management-side labor and employment law firm representing businesses and employers throughout California. He also serves as adjunct faculty at Napa Valley College and the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, where he teaches Restaurant and Hospitality Law, and as an Advisory Board member for the Napa Valley Hospitality and Tourism Management Program.
     “I look forward to my first full year on the Chamber Board, during which I hope to grow my ability to serve our local community and businesses throughout the Napa Valley.”


 


Sandra Elles 

SANDRA ELLES is the Executive Director of the Napa County Farm Bureau. She retired as vice president of government contracts and senior captain of the Blue & Gold Fleet in San Francisco after 22 years with the company. Past mayor and council member of the city of Cotati, she is married to Capt. Chuck Elles and has twin 22-year-old daughters.
     “Our agricultural businesses generate a $9.5 billion economy for Napa County. I’m excited to continue working with the Chamber for another year and look forward to the opportunities that will help us sustain our robust economy and protect Napa's world renowned Agricultural Preserve and great quality of life.”

 


Shawn Milburn 

SHAWN MILBURN is the General Manager of the Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa. New to the Napa Valley, but a 4th generation California native, Shawn has been managing hotels throughout California for the last ten years. As a part of the recent ownership change at the Napa Marriott, Shawn will be overseeing a twenty-four month, 6.5 million dollar renovation to that property. He is married with two small children and recently purchased a home in American Canyon.
     “My goal for the next year will be to support the revitalization and renaissance of the Napa downtown. I believe it to be essential to the long term success of our city as a viable destination to those in the greater Bay Area and beyond.”

 


Sherry McKillop 

SHERRY McKILLOP is founder and principal of Follow Your Compass, a company focused on team and leadership development. She works with leaders and others to transform their “people problems” at work and in life by using coaching and training methodologies designed to dramatically increase personal and organizational effectiveness. Sherry has served as the chair of the Business Builders Committee for the past two years. She is also the program director for Leadership Today, the community leadership program in Fairfield and Suisun City. Her professional associations include: the International Coach Federation, the Association of Leadership Educators, and the American Society of Training and Development.
     “My goal for the chamber in 2010 is to increase the participation of our members and the community in the many wonderful business-building opportunities the chamber provides and facilitates.”

 


Stanton Lawson 

STANTON LAWSON is co-owner of Sequoia Senior Solutions, Inc., which provides in–home care services to seniors throughout the North Bay. His career in International Business includes financial management positions with Olivetti, Cinzano, and Jackson Publishing in Italy and Autodesk and DBS Industries in California.
     “I look forward to working with the Napa Chamber in its continuing effort to ensure a healthy business community. Particularly in this difficult economy, it is important for the Chamber to help reduce obstacles that stand in the way of business growth and to help our local companies thrive.”
